Every day that passes is another where Holden draws closer to shuttering its Australian factories, but the company isn’t prepared to do that without releasing a few more of the thunderous products its customers love.
Accordingly, Holden just revealed the 2015 HSV GTS Maloo, the most powerful ute ever to come from tuning arm HSV’s stories shop floor. The unibody truck is meant as a sendoff and makes 577 hp along with 546 lb-ft of torque via a 6.2-liter supercharged LSA V8 shared with the likes of Cadillac’s CTS-V and most recently, the Camaro ZL1.
It also comes with six-piston brake calipers squeezing 15- and 14-inch rotors sitting behind 20-inch wheels. Power is routed to the rear via a Trememc TR6060 six-speed manual gearbox or optionally, a six-speed automatic.
The car also offers hooligan-focused features like launch control along with torque vectoring to help keep things in check during high-speed cornering.
There will be two colors offered: the green shown here and a bronze red along with two interior color schemes that correspond with the paint options. Holden will only offer 250 copies of the crazy car-based truck, which shares its parts with the GTS sedan.
